My latest project.



Anyone who knows me also knows that I really enjoy my firearms. Some time ago I purchased a 12 gauge single shot shotgun specifically to do a makeover on. I wanted to make a small compact (yet within legal dimensions) Home defense weapon that you could depend on to get the job done when you hear glass breaking in the middle of the night. As you can see from the before and after pictures, it has undergone quite a change. First I shortened the barrel to 18.5 inches and added an over sized front bead. I then took about 4 inches off of the stock to bring the overall length to about 30 inches. I also cut the little dovetail off of the end of the fore stock to make it a bit more compact. I figured that since I took quite a bit of weight off of it, the recoil would be a bit more pronounced. The fact is that it kicked like a Kentucky mule. To add more weight and to up the cool factor I added a heat shield to the barrel. I also ported the end of the barrel to reduce muzzle climb and recoil. Finally I added a 5 round shell holder fastened to the stock. The combination of the added weight and barrel porting reduced the kick quite a bit. For the final touch, I added a 9 LED flashlight that turns the night into day wherever its pointed. I love the way this little project turned out.
