I can hardly wait!!!

I'm SO looking forward to the retreat this year. I look forward to it every year, but this summer has been particularly draining. I definitely need a boost. I've been told that the attendance is going to be way down this year. I have asked a few guys why they aren't coming and I get,"Can't afford it", "Been there, done that", "Don't have the time", and my personal favorite, "Not interested". To me it begs the question, "WHY"???? I know that money is tight right now, for everyone, and I know that 120 bucks is a lot, I can't afford it either, (refer to blogs below) but I can't afford not to go. I'm just spiritually wasted...pooped...worn out. I need to be with other guys who are going through the same thing and looking for a Godly kick in the butt to keep going. If you are reading this please, take a few seconds right where you are to say a prayer for those that are going, for the speakers, the organizers, and staff, that we would see God move in a mighty way in the hearts and lives of those that are feeling just a bit beat up. Thanks...

1st day OK...

WOW! It was a lot to pack into my pea-sized brain in one day. I spent most of the morning signing stuff, and the afternoon with computer tutorials. I'm definitely the old man of the department. Almost everyone I work with is at least half my age. It's ok though, they're taking it easy on me, at least for a while. It looks like a pretty fun group for the most part.

The call came in today...They think I would be a good fit and THEY WANT ME!!!
The gal in HR said that they had to interview quite a few people, but they decided that I would be the best one for the job. All I had to do was pee in a cup and the position is mine. (I wish I would have known that before or I would have filled a 5 gallon bucket for them.) I start tomorrow at 0900 and after a week or so of orientation I will be out on the road and on my own.

Basically what I will be doing is visiting Contractors in my region (South Bend area) and selling them materials, making sure that deliveries are on time, and getting new Contractors to sign up for the Contractors program that Menards offers. It will be a base salary with commission bonus. I have been told that there are already several large accounts there that I will inherit when I take over the region, so I should be at a pretty good income level going into it. I will have a company vehicle and will be able to work the sales floor when I'm not on the road (WAY COOL). This job was really made to order for me, so I hope it works out. I have to admit that I'm a bit gun-shy after this last episode, but I'm going to remain enthusiastic and VERY thankful that God has blessed me with this new opportunity.
