As you know I like to put quotes from our founding Patriots in here once in a while. Here is a quote that was sent to me by a dear friend that was made by someone who was anything BUT a patriot. His name was Norman Mattoon Thomas (Nov. 20, 1884-Dec. 19, 1968), and some of us are old enough to remember him running for President. He was a leading American socialist, pacifist and six time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.

Norman Thomas said this in a 1944 speech:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "Liberalism", they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."

That was in 1944! This guy would be so proud to see the realization of all his hard work and effort now.

As a side note: I have taken out the 'comments' link since most of you are e-mailing me anyway. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. Obviously I get criticism as well, but I don't mind. Quite a few people have either written or come up to me and said that this blog makes them think. Great! Conservatism is not a difficult concept. It is mostly just plain old common sense. That is probably why so many people with multiple letters behind their name who are still paying off bazillions of dollars in school loans just don't 'get it'. They have traded common sense for a degree. Too bad. Gotta feel kind of sorry for them....Anyway, keep writing and letting me know what you think. If you have something interesting that I can post, send it my way and I'll take a look at it. My e-mail addy is in the header of the blog.
