Could have been worse...I guess...

Progress?? Not exactly what I would call it. Two years of enacting more governmental control over our lives and our money. I won't go over the list yet again. if you have listened to the news, or have read this blog for the last two years, it's all there.

The biggest lame duck session debacle that the Harry and Nancy comedy team tried to push through fortunately fell on it's face. The Omnibus Bill was so laden with pork that any self respecting Muslim would never go near it. No thanks to a few Republicans who added some pet projects of their own. Swine...

They finally got rid of the "Don't ask, don't tell" thing that Clinton himself enacted years ago. I thought that rule was pretty spineless to begin with but look who enacted it. OK...I'm going to get off of my conservative soap box on this one and say, "I really don't care". I have wavered on this one back and forth for years from strongly for, to strongly against. When the dust settles, I think it is up to the military leaders to decide. They are the ones who have to live with it. The gays are here to stay, in fact, they've ALWAYS been here. Nothing really has changed. I really can't see that it is going to affect how much a soldier is willing to fight and die for this country. There is not supposed to be any PDA anyway, no matter what the gender of those involved are. This has to be a decision that the military alone can make. Only time will tell what the true outcome will be.

I totally agree with the president on this one. From the time he was a community organizer to this day, he has ALWAYS wanted a weaker America. He has never wanted this country to be a world leader, especially militarily. He, along with some gutless Republicans passed the START treaty so that we can be more equal with Russia and the rest of the world and not have our "edge" that it takes to be the leader any more. I'm waiting for Iran, North Korea, China, Syria, Pakistan, and all the other outlaw nations to sign on too. Ummm...yeah. The one good thing about this is that as with other treaties like this we have signed, it usually doesn't happen. They get rid of a few obsolete warheads that they don't need anyway and forget about the whole thing.

They did save the Bush tax cuts, for which I'm grateful. It almost didn't happen, and even though he's crowing like a rooster about it, Bammer doesn't get any credit for it because it happened in spite of him. We are still digging deeper in debt to pay out more unemployment benefits to a vast majority of people who don't want to work anyway. There are jobs out there. I found one, and it wasn't easy. I invested a lot of time, gas, and shoe leather, but it paid off. I'm convinced that anybody who is REALLY willing to work at it can find a job, especially when the unemployment runs out and they have to.

They also shot down the Dream Act. Thank God. With jobs in short supply for our own people, we don't need to be furnishing jobs to criminals who have flaunted our laws and our borders to take the ones we do have. Again BO gets no credit because he and his henchmen were solidly for it.

In a couple of weeks we will have a new congress in place with Conservatives who are spoiling for a fight. I can't wait, because I am too. TI
